Description

The Givi D1171ST is a model-specific replacement windscreen for the Honda CB500X from 2019 onwards. It fits in place of the original screen and stands 15 cm taller, extending the pocket of still air over the rider for less wind pressure and noise on the highway.

At 58 cm high and 48 cm wide, it suits commuters and touring riders who find the standard CB500X screen too low, while the transparent finish keeps the view ahead clear and the bike looking standard. Because it is made for this model, it uses the bike's existing screen mounting points rather than a universal bracket kit.

Operations & maintenance

Leave any protective film in place until the screen is fitted to avoid scratching it during installation.
Remove the original screen and transfer the bike's screen fasteners and any rubber grommets or spacers, keeping them in the same order.
Tighten the mounting fasteners evenly and only to a firm, snug feel — overtightening can crack the screen around the mounting holes.
Re-check the fasteners after the first ride and periodically afterwards, as vibration can loosen them.
Clean with plenty of clean water and a mild soap using a soft cloth or sponge, then dry with a clean microfibre.
Soak insects and road grime first rather than rubbing them off dry, as grit dragged across the surface causes fine scratches.
Avoid solvents, petrol, methylated spirits, ammonia-based glass cleaners and abrasive polishes or scourers, which can craze or cloud the screen.
Inspect regularly for cracks, crazing or star marks around the mounting points and replace the screen if any are found, as damage can spread under wind load.
If riding with a very tall screen for the first time, allow a few rides to settle on the best seating position and mirror adjustment for the changed airflow.
Store a spare or removed screen flat or upright in a padded cover, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
