The Garmin AMPS Rugged Mount with Audio/Power Cable is the hard-wired mounting solution for the Garmin Montana 700 series, letting you fit your handheld to a motorcycle, ATV or side-by-side and run it from the vehicle's electrical system.

It suits riders who want their Montana permanently mounted and powered on the bike rather than relying on internal battery. The supplied cable ends in bare power, audio and data wires, so it can be wired into your chosen power source and, where you want it, an audio setup. Some basic auto-electrical work is required to install it.

  • Rugged mount designed for the Garmin Montana 700 series
  • Uses the standard AMPS four-hole mounting pattern for compatibility with AMPS-fitted mounts and brackets
  • Supplied cable provides bare power, audio and data wires for hard-wiring to a vehicle
  • Mounting hardware included in the kit
  • Suited to motorcycle, ATV and off-road vehicle installations

  • The cable ends in bare wires — it must be wired into the vehicle's electrical system, so have it fitted by an auto electrician if you are not confident with motorcycle wiring.
  • Mount the cradle to an AMPS-pattern bracket or plate rated for the vibration and weight involved, and use the supplied hardware.
  • Mount the unit where it does not obstruct the handlebars, steering lock or controls.
  • Route the cable clear of moving parts, the steering head, hot exhaust components and pinch points, and secure it with cable ties so it cannot chafe.
  • Connect power to a switched circuit so the mount is not drawing from the battery when the vehicle is off.
  • Check the mount screws and cable retention periodically — vibration can loosen fasteners over time.
  • Wipe the mount and connector contacts with a soft, damp cloth; avoid solvents, petrol and harsh cleaners on the plastics.
  • Keep the docking contacts clean and dry, and clear any dirt or grit before docking the device.
  • Avoid aiming a pressure washer directly at the mount, cable connections or contacts when cleaning the bike.
  • Remove the handheld from the mount when the vehicle is parked for long periods or left outdoors.
