- Disconnect the battery before removing the old indicator to avoid shorting the wiring or blowing a fuse.
- Retain and reuse the OEM mounting hardware, grommet and any rubber stem spacer, as the indicator is designed to fit the factory mounting point.
- Match the wiring by function rather than by colour alone, and confirm both indicator and hazard operation before final tightening.
- Do not over-tighten the mounting nut; the stem and housing can distort or crack if pulled up too hard.
- Use a replacement globe of the same type and wattage as the original, as a mismatched bulb can alter the flash rate or overload the relay.
- Handle the globe by its base rather than the glass, and make sure the lens is seated correctly so water cannot enter the housing.
- Clean the lens with warm soapy water and a soft cloth only; petrol, solvents and harsh degreasers will craze or cloud the plastic.
- Avoid aiming a pressure washer directly at the lens seam or the wiring entry point.
- Check the mounting and wiring loom periodically for chafing or vibration wear, and refit any cable ties removed during installation.
- If the indicator flashes rapidly or not at all, check the earth connection, connector pins and globe before replacing the flasher relay.
