The Mitas Enduro Trail XT+ Dakar is a rear adventure tyre built for riders who head well past the end of the bitumen. It is aimed at dual-purpose and adventure-touring machines set up in rally configuration, where muddy trails, rough gravel and rocky going are the norm but the bike still has to cover motorway kilometres to get there.

The rear carries the same aggressively scooped, longitudinal block pattern as the well-regarded Mitas E-09, on a flat profile that keeps a usable footprint on hard surfaces. The Dakar version steps up from the standard Enduro Trail XT+ with an Ultra Heavy Duty compound and a reinforced carcass, so it is aimed squarely at riders chasing maximum mileage and puncture resistance on demanding terrain.

Classified M+S and rated for roughly 20% on-road, 80% off-road use.

  • Rear adventure tyre in 130/80-17, load and speed rating 65R
  • Ultra Heavy Duty compound for maximum durability — up to 20% more mileage than the standard Enduro Trail XT+
  • Reinforced carcass for very high resistance to punctures
  • Extremely aggressive longitudinal scoop-shaped block pattern, shared with the proven Mitas E-09
  • Flat profile with an average rear lug depth of 13.2 mm
  • Grip on soft, muddy ground and hard, rocky terrain with limited compromise on sealed roads
  • M+S classified, designed for approximately 20% on-road and 80% off-road use
  • Fits tubeless (TL) or tube-type (TT) applications
  • Suited to dual-purpose adventure touring motorcycles in rally configuration
  • Pairs with the Enduro Trail XT+ front, which uses the E-13 pattern with 12 mm lug depth
  • One Mitas Enduro Trail XT+ Dakar 130/80-17 65R rear tyre

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician, and follow the rotation direction and any fitting marks moulded into the sidewall.
  • Set and check pressures cold, using the pressures specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual or on the swingarm/chain-guard placard — never the maximum figure on the tyre sidewall.
  • Check pressures before every ride or at least weekly; correct pressure has a large effect on wear, handling and puncture resistance on a heavy adventure bike.
  • Ride gently for the first stint on a new tyre so the surface release agents scuff off and the tread blocks bed in before hard braking, acceleration or full lean angles.
  • If you drop pressures for soft sand or technical off-road sections, reinflate to the manufacturer's recommended road pressures before returning to sealed roads or high speeds.
  • In tube-type fitment, use a new tube and rim tape suited to the tyre size; in tubeless fitment, make sure the rim is rated and sealed for tubeless use.
  • After off-road rides, pick stones and debris from between the tread blocks and inspect the tyre and sidewalls for cuts, tears, bulges or embedded objects.
  • Wash with mild soap and water only; keep petrol, solvents, brake cleaner and tyre-shine dressings off the tread and sidewalls.
  • Do not exceed the tyre's 65R load and speed rating, and replace the tyre once the tread reaches the wear indicators or the legal minimum depth in your state.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and petroleum products.
