- Confirm fitment against your existing right-hand muffler — compare overall length, inlet diameter and mounting point positions before installation.
- Fit with fresh exhaust gaskets and clamps where your model uses them; reusing crushed or distorted gaskets is a common cause of leaks.
- Leave all fasteners finger-tight until the muffler is aligned with the header and rear mount, then tighten progressively and evenly to avoid stressing the joints.
- After the first ride, allow the system to cool completely and re-check the clamps and mounting bolts, as heat cycling can loosen them.
- Avoid handling or cleaning the muffler until it has cooled — exhaust components stay hot well after the engine is shut down.
- Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth; keep abrasive pads and harsh solvents away from the outer finish.
- Dry the muffler thoroughly after washing or wet-weather riding, and wipe away road salt promptly, as trapped moisture accelerates corrosion from the inside out.
- Extended idling and repeated short trips let condensation collect inside the muffler; occasional longer rides help it clear.
- Inspect periodically for rust perforation, cracks around the welds and a blowing or ticking sound at the header joint, which usually signals a failed gasket.
