Do not touch the glass envelope with bare hands — skin oils create hot spots on the glass that cause premature filament failure; handle only by the base or with clean, dry gloves.
Switch off the headlight circuit and, where practical, disconnect the battery before removing or fitting the globe to avoid accidental arcing or shock.
Confirm the three-pin connector orientation aligns correctly with the housing socket before applying insertion pressure; forcing a misaligned connector can bend pins or crack the housing.
Seat the globe fully into the retainer clip or locking ring — an unsecured globe is prone to vibration-related filament fracture on rough roads.
Once fitted, test both high beam and low beam functions before riding to confirm correct operation.
If a newly fitted globe fails shortly after installation, inspect the connector for corrosion or loose terminals and check the headlight circuit for voltage irregularities before replacing the globe.
Store unused globes in their original packaging in a cool, dry location; impact or moisture can damage the filament before the globe is even used.
