- Do not touch the glass envelope with bare hands — skin oils create hot spots on the glass that cause premature filament failure; handle only by the base or with clean, dry gloves.
- Switch off the headlight circuit and, where practical, disconnect the battery before removing or fitting the globe to avoid accidental arcing or shock.
- Confirm the three-pin connector orientation aligns correctly with the housing socket before applying insertion pressure; forcing a misaligned connector can bend pins or crack the housing.
- Seat the globe fully into the retainer clip or locking ring — an unsecured globe is prone to vibration-related filament fracture on rough roads.
- Once fitted, test both high beam and low beam functions before riding to confirm correct operation.
- If a newly fitted globe fails shortly after installation, inspect the connector for corrosion or loose terminals and check the headlight circuit for voltage irregularities before replacing the globe.
- Store unused globes in their original packaging in a cool, dry location; impact or moisture can damage the filament before the globe is even used.
