Description

The Duro 480/400-8 inner tube is a straightforward replacement tube for 8-inch wheels running 4.80-8 or 4.00-8 tyres. It is fitted with a TR13 straight rubber valve stem, the common snap-in valve used on this wheel size.

It suits the small utility wheels found on box trailers, jockey wheels, wheelbarrows, hand trucks, ride-on mower decks, generators and similar equipment. A sensible spare to keep on hand, or a simple fix when an existing tube has gone soft or been punctured.

Check your existing tyre sidewall marking and valve type before ordering to confirm this tube is the correct fit.

Operations & maintenance

Confirm the size marked on your tyre sidewall (4.80-8 or 4.00-8) and that your rim takes a TR13 snap-in rubber valve before fitting.
Inflate the tube just enough to give it shape before installing it in the tyre — this helps it seat evenly and avoids folds or twists.
Feed the valve through the rim hole first and make sure it sits square, not on an angle, before working the tyre bead on.
Use tyre levers with care and keep them clear of the tube; a pinched tube is the most common cause of an immediate flat after fitting.
Inflate to the pressure marked on the tyre sidewall or specified by the equipment manufacturer, and do not exceed it.
Check pressure regularly, as tubes lose air gradually over time; top up before towing or loading the wheel.
Fit the valve cap and keep it in place to keep dirt and moisture out of the valve core.
Store spare tubes flat or loosely coiled in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from oils, solvents and fuels, which degrade rubber.
Replace the tube rather than patching it if the damage is at the valve base or along a seam.
Inspect the tyre and rim for sharp burrs, grit or a damaged rim tape before fitting a new tube, otherwise the new tube will fail the same way.
