Description

The Duro JS87 is a replacement tyre in the 11x4.00-4 size, supplied together with a matching inner tube. The size designation covers an approximate 11-inch overall diameter and 4.00-inch section width, fitted to a 4-inch rim.

It suits riders and workshops replacing a worn tube-type tyre on small-wheel machines that use this size. Buying the tyre and tube as a set means the correct tube is on hand at fitting time.

Always confirm the size moulded on your existing tyre and the pressure specified by your machine's manufacturer before fitting.

Operations & maintenance

Have the tyre and tube fitted by a competent tyre fitter using proper tyre levers or a fitting machine; take care not to pinch the tube against the rim or bead.
Check that the rim band or tape is intact and that the rim is free of burrs, rust and spoke-end protrusions before fitting a new tube.
Use a little tyre-fitting lubricant or soapy water on the beads rather than oil or solvent-based products, which can degrade rubber.
Inflate to the pressure specified by your machine's manufacturer, seat the beads evenly around the rim, then re-check and set the final pressure.
Check cold inflation pressure regularly; under-inflation causes tube chafing, overheating and rapid shoulder wear, while over-inflation reduces grip and centre tread life.
Keep the valve stem sitting square to the rim — a leaning stem indicates the tyre has crept on the rim and the assembly should be broken down and re-fitted.
Inspect periodically for cuts, embedded stones, bulges, exposed cords, perished sidewalls and tread depth, and replace the tyre if any are found.
Ride gently for the first few kilometres so the release agent wears off the new tread surface and grip develops fully.
Store spare tyres and tubes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and fuels, oils and solvents.
Do not exceed the load or speed limits of the machine the tyre is fitted to, and do not repair a tube as a permanent fix — replace it.
