Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution; never use petroleum-based solvents, acetone or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the finish and shell integrity.
Clean the visor or face shield with warm water and a soft microfibre cloth; avoid dry wiping, which can introduce fine scratches.
If the interior liner or cheek pads are removable, hand-wash them in cold water with a mild detergent and allow to air-dry completely before refitting.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours, and extreme temperatures, ideally in a helmet bag to protect the shell and liner.
Do not place heavy objects on top of or inside the helmet during storage.
Inspect the chin strap, buckle and retention hardware regularly; if any component shows signs of fraying, corrosion or failure, cease use until repaired or replaced.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact — even without visible external damage, the impact-absorbing liner may have been permanently compressed and will offer reduced protection in a subsequent impact.
As a general industry guideline, consider retiring the helmet after five years from the date of first use, or sooner if the interior foam or retention system shows signs of deterioration.
