Description

The Shinko E270 Super Classic is a period-styled tube-type motorcycle tyre in the classic 4.00-18 fitment, carrying a 64H load and speed rating. Its full aspect ratio profile and sawtooth tread give the tall, narrow look associated with older road bikes, while the white sidewall finishes the period appearance.

It suits cruisers, custom and bobber builds, and older-style restorations that run an 18-inch rim, and it can be fitted front or rear depending on your machine's specification. A 4 ply rated nylon carcass sits behind the classic looks for durability over the life of the tyre.

Tube type: an inner tube is required. Always confirm the size, load and speed rating specified for your motorcycle before fitting.

Operations & maintenance

Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using correct tyre machines and levers — this is a tube type tyre and is not intended to be run tubeless.
Fit a new inner tube and check the rim band or rim tape at every tyre change; reusing an old, stretched tube can lead to chafing and deflation.
Check the sidewall for any directional arrow and fit the tyre to match the wheel's direction of rotation, and confirm whether it is being used in a front or rear position on your motorcycle.
Ride gently for the initial break-in period, gradually increasing lean angle and load so the release agents from moulding wear off and the tread beds in.
Check and adjust inflation pressure when the tyre is cold, using the pressures specified by your motorcycle's manufacturer for the load being carried.
Inspect the tread and sidewalls regularly for cuts, embedded objects, bulges, cracking and uneven wear, and replace the tyre if the tread is worn to the wear indicators or damage is found.
Clean the white sidewall with mild soap and water and a soft brush or cloth; avoid solvents, petrol and petroleum-based tyre dressings, which can stain or discolour the white rubber and can degrade the tread compound.
Do not exceed the tyre's marked load and speed rating, and do not exceed your motorcycle's rated capacities.
Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and fuels, oils and solvents.
After fitting, re-check the wheel nuts, valve stem alignment and inflation pressure once the tyre has been ridden a short distance, as tube type tyres can settle on the rim.
