Wipe the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution; avoid petroleum-based solvents, abrasive cleaners or petrol, which can degrade the shell material and finish.
Clean any visor or face shield with a dampened microfibre cloth before wiping — never dry-wipe, as grit will scratch the lens surface.
If the interior comfort liner is removable, hand-wash it in cool water with mild detergent and allow it to air-dry completely before refitting; do not machine-wash or tumble-dry.
Store the helmet in a breathable bag or its original box in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuels, and chemicals, all of which degrade foam and shell materials over time.
Do not rest the helmet on handlebar ends or mirrors; point pressure on the shell can damage the impact-absorbing liner without leaving visible marks.
Inspect the chin strap and retention buckle regularly; replace the strap if webbing shows fraying or the buckle fails to lock positively.
Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no external damage is visible — the internal liner may be compressed and will not protect in a subsequent impact.
As a general guideline, retire any helmet after five years from its date of manufacture, or sooner if the fit becomes noticeably loose, the shell shows crazing, or the liner shows signs of deterioration.
