Description

The Biltwell Gringo SV is a full-face helmet that carries the brand's classic, retro-inspired silhouette into a modern safety standard. The rounded shell and wide eye port give it the look of a vintage lid, while the injection-moulded ABS outer shell, dual-density EPS liner and ECE 22.06 certification bring it up to current expectations for road use.

It suits riders on cruisers, customs, bobbers and classic-styled bikes who want period-correct looks without giving up a sealed face shield and proper ventilation. The Gloss Storm Grey finish is a neutral mid-grey with a polished sheen that sits comfortably against chrome, black or raw-metal builds.

The comfort liner and cheek pads are removable and replaceable for washing, the shield swings on detented hinge hardware that holds it open at low speeds, and moulded EPS ear pockets leave room for select aftermarket audio kits.

Operations & maintenance

Wash the outer shell with a soft cloth, warm water and a mild soap only — petrol, solvents, degreasers and ammonia-based cleaners can attack the ABS shell and the shield coatings.
Clean the shield with a damp microfibre cloth and plain water, wiping gently in straight strokes; the anti-fog and anti-scratch treatments are surface coatings and will be damaged by harsh chemicals or dry wiping of grit.
Lift insects and road grime by laying a damp cloth over the shield for a minute to soften them, rather than scrubbing.
Remove the comfort liner and cheek pads for washing; hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent and air dry out of direct sunlight, and never machine dry.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry place in a helmet bag, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and fuel or solvent vapours. Do not leave it sitting on a mirror or handlebar.
Check the D-ring strap, stitching and the stainless-steel hinge screws periodically and re-tighten the shield hardware if it loosens; the helmet must be done up firmly under the jaw with the strap threaded correctly through both rings every ride.
Use the detented hinge to ride with the shield cracked open only at low speeds — an open shield at highway speed catches wind and strains the hinge hardware.
Do not paint the shell, apply solvent-based adhesives or stickers, or drill or modify it in any way; this can weaken the ABS and voids the ECE certification.
Retire and replace the helmet after any impact or drop onto a hard surface, even if there is no visible damage — the EPS liner compresses once and does not recover.
