Description

The Biltwell Gringo SV is a full-face helmet that carries the brand's classic moto silhouette into a modern safety standard. It pairs a lightweight injection-moulded ABS shell with a dual-density EPS liner and a flip-up polycarbonate shield, so you get proper full-face coverage without losing the stripped-back look Biltwell is known for.

It suits riders on customs, cruisers, scramblers and retro road bikes who want everyday comfort and vision, plus the option to run the shield cracked open at low speed for extra airflow. The Flat Black colourway is understated and easy to match with any build.

Built on three shell sizes for a closer fit across the range, and finished with a removable, washable fleece Lycra comfort liner. Please note the updated shield closure means the Gringo SV is not compatible with older Gringo S shields.

Operations & maintenance

Measure your head circumference and check Biltwell's revised ECE 22.06 sizing chart before ordering — the three-shell range fits differently to the older 22.05 model, so don't assume your previous size carries over.
Fasten the double D-ring strap on every ride so it is firm under the jaw with no slack; use the red pull tab to release it, not to secure it.
Clean the shield with warm water and a mild soap using a soft microfibre cloth only — petrol, solvents, ammonia-based glass cleaners and abrasive cloths will destroy the anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings.
Wipe the ABS outer shell with a damp cloth and mild soap; avoid solvents, strong cleaners and stickers or paint, which can attack the shell material.
Remove the comfort liner and cheek pads and hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, then air dry fully out of direct sunlight — never machine dry or use a heater.
Never clean or soak the EPS inner liner; just let the helmet air dry naturally after wet rides, with the liner removed if it is soaked through.
The shield hinge detents are designed to hold the shield open at low speed for extra airflow — close it before riding at speed.
Hinge hardware can be removed and replaced with alternative anodised washers and stainless screws; tighten by hand only, just enough for smooth shield movement without play.
Order replacement shields for the Gringo SV specifically — Gringo S shields will not fit the revised closure.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from fuel and exhaust fumes; avoid leaving it hanging on a mirror or resting on hot bodywork.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even if there is no visible damage, and consider replacement as it ages in line with the manufacturer's guidance.
