Description

The Biltwell Lane Splitter is a full-face helmet built around an injection-moulded ABS shell and a dual-density EPS safety liner, finished here in a clean gloss black. It was the first Biltwell lid engineered to meet European safety standards, and the current version is certified to ECE 22.06, so it is road legal in Australia.

The aggressive, low-profile shape suits riders who want modern full-face protection without a race-replica look — commuters, cafe racer and cruiser riders, and anyone after a helmet that works as well in traffic as it does on a weekend loop. Front, side and rear ventilation keeps air moving, while the shield hinge holds firm detents so you can run it cracked open at low speed.

Inside, the removable brushed fleece Lycra liner and cheek pads wick perspiration and can be pulled out for washing, and moulded ear pockets leave room for select aftermarket comms. Supplied in sizes S through 2XL.

Operations & maintenance

Fit and fasten the double D-ring strap on every ride — thread the strap through both rings, pull snug under the jaw, and use the red quick-release tab to undo it afterwards.
Check sizing carefully before use: the helmet should be firm on the cheeks and brow with no rotation, and the liner will pack out slightly over the first few rides.
Wash the removable comfort liner and cheek pads by hand in lukewarm water with a mild soap, rinse thoroughly and air dry away from direct heat and sunlight — never machine dry, and refit only when completely dry.
Clean the shell with lukewarm water and a soft cloth or mild soap. Avoid petrol, solvents, ammonia-based glass cleaners and abrasive pads, which can attack the ABS shell and the shield coatings.
Clean the shield with a soft, damp microfibre cloth only. Dry wiping drags grit across the anti-scratch coating, and harsh cleaners will strip the anti-fog treatment.
Soften stubborn insect residue by laying a damp cloth over the shield for a minute or two before wiping, rather than scrubbing.
At low speeds you can ride with the shield cracked open on its detents for extra airflow — close it fully at road speed.
Periodically check the hinge screws and washers are snug; the anodised aluminium hardware can be swapped for other Biltwell hinge sets if you want a different finish.
After riding in the wet, remove the liner and let the helmet dry naturally in a ventilated space — do not use a heater, hairdryer or direct sunlight.
Store in a helmet bag or on a shelf away from sunlight, fuel vapours and solvents, and avoid hanging it on a mirror or bar end where the liner can be crushed.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact or drop, even if the shell looks undamaged — the EPS liner compresses once and does not recover.
Fitting non-genuine components may affect the helmet's certification and manufacturer warranty.
