The Biltwell Lane Splitter is a full-face helmet with a stripped-back, retro-modern profile built around an injection-moulded ABS outer shell and a shock-absorbing EPS inner shell. The flat black finish keeps things understated, while the wide eye port and clear polycarbonate shield give an open, uncluttered view of the road.

It suits riders on cafe racers, customs, cruisers and naked bikes who want a genuinely road-legal full-face without race-replica styling. Hand-stitched brushed Lycra padding, a BioFoam chin bar pad and chin-bar vents with a rear exhaust keep longer rides comfortable, and mesh pockets in the ear recesses take most drop-in communication systems.

This version is certified to ECE 22.06 and is road legal in Australia. ECE-certified helmets generally fit more snugly than DOT-only models, so check the sizing chart rather than assuming your usual size.

  • Measure your head and follow the sizing chart before ordering — ECE-certified helmets fit more snugly than comparable DOT-only models, so your usual size may not carry over.
  • Check the fit with the chin strap done up firmly: the helmet should not roll forward or shift independently of your head. Use the strap-end retainer to secure the loose tail of the strap.
  • If the helmet is loose or tight around the jaw, fine-tune it with accessory cheek pads (sold separately) rather than changing shell size.
  • Remove the comfort liner and cheek pads for cleaning; wash gently by hand in mild soapy water, rinse, then air-dry away from direct heat or sunlight and refit only when completely dry.
  • Clean the shell and shield with lukewarm water and a mild soap on a soft cloth. Avoid petrol, solvents, abrasive cleaners and household chemicals, which can damage the ABS shell, polycarbonate shield and its anti-fog coating.
  • Soften stubborn insects by laying a damp cloth over them for a few minutes rather than scrubbing the shield dry.
  • Use the shield's detents to crack it open at low speed for extra airflow; close it fully at speed. Remove the shield via the hinge hardware for thorough cleaning or replacement.
  • Don't hang the helmet on a mirror, handlebar or seat hook — pressure points can deform the EPS liner. Store it in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
  • Keep the chin bar and rear exhaust vents clear of dirt and insects so airflow isn't restricted.
  • Replace the helmet after any impact, even if there is no visible damage, and stop using a shield that is heavily scratched or hazed.
