A replacement 12V 2W instrument bulb with a BA7S bayonet cap from Link International, listed under part number 45-127-2J. It is the small-format globe used behind speedometer, tachometer, gauge and warning-light housings on a wide range of motorcycles.

Suited to riders and workshops restoring dash illumination on older bikes, or simply replacing a globe that has failed and left one instrument dark. Check the cap type and rating on the bulb you are removing before ordering, as instrument clusters use several similar-looking base sizes.

  • 12V rating for standard motorcycle electrical systems
  • 2W draw, sized for instrument and gauge illumination
  • BA7S bayonet cap (7 mm single-contact fitting)
  • Direct replacement globe for dash, gauge and warning-light housings
  • Link International part number 45-127-2J

  • Switch the ignition off, and disconnect the battery where instrument wiring is exposed, before replacing a globe.
  • Fit by pushing the bayonet cap into the holder and turning about a quarter turn until it locates; do not force or twist the glass.
  • Handle the bulb by its metal cap and keep fingers off the glass; wipe with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth if you do touch it.
  • Replace like-for-like at 12V 2W only — a higher-wattage globe can distort or melt the lens and holder and overload the instrument circuit.
  • Inspect the socket for corrosion or green tarnish and clean the contacts before fitting the new bulb.
  • Refit gauge seals, gaskets and rubber holders correctly so moisture and dust stay out of the cluster.
  • If several globes in a cluster are of similar age, replace them together for even, matched illumination.
  • If a new bulb does not light, check the fuse, the dash dimmer or rheostat and the earth connection before fitting further bulbs.
  • Store spares in their packaging, dry and away from impact and vibration.
