The BS Battery BTZ10S-FA is a 12-volt sealed lead-acid (SLA) AGM motorcycle battery in the widely used TZ10S case format. It suits riders replacing a like-for-like YTZ10S/TTZ10S-type battery in sport, naked and mid-capacity road machines, and is shipped in the FA (factory activated) configuration, so it arrives sealed rather than with a separate acid pack.

Absorbent Glass Mat construction holds the electrolyte in the separator instead of leaving it free-flowing, which is what allows the battery to be classified as non-spillable for transport (UN2800, Class 8) and means there are no cells to top up in service.

Before ordering, check the terminal layout and physical dimensions against your existing battery, as case-code equivalence does not always guarantee a direct fit.

  • 12V sealed lead-acid AGM construction
  • TZ10S case format — a direct-equivalent size for YTZ10S/TTZ10S-type fitments
  • FA (factory activated) — supplied sealed, no separate acid pack to fill
  • Maintenance-free: no electrolyte top-ups and no cells to open
  • Classified non-spillable for transport under UN2800, Class 8
  • Supplied to retailers in cartons of 4 units
  • BS Battery BTZ10S-FA sealed AGM battery

  • Check the battery's resting voltage before installation and charge it if it has been sitting in stock; a lead-acid battery left partially discharged will sulphate and lose capacity.
  • Charge only with a charger that has an AGM or sealed lead-acid setting — do not use a high-output automotive charger or a desulphation mode intended for flooded batteries.
  • Do not attempt to open, drill or add fluid to the sealed top; the battery is factory activated and the electrolyte is held in the separator, so there is nothing to top up.
  • Connect positive first and negative last when installing, and reverse that order when removing, to reduce the risk of shorting a spanner against the frame.
  • Keep the terminals clean and dry and tighten the terminal bolts firmly by hand tools only — overtightening can strip or distort the terminal.
  • Mount the battery securely in its tray so it cannot vibrate or move; sustained vibration shortens the life of any lead-acid battery.
  • If the bike is stored or ridden only occasionally, keep the battery on a suitable smart maintenance charger, or disconnect it and top it up periodically rather than leaving it flat.
  • Store spare or off-season batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Wipe the case with a damp cloth only; avoid solvents and petrol, which can attack the plastic housing.
  • Investigate a battery that repeatedly goes flat — the usual cause is a charging system fault or a parasitic drain rather than the battery itself.
