The Bridgestone Battlecross X31 is Bridgestone's rear motocross tyre for intermediate (medium) terrain, supplied here in the popular 110/100-18 size for 18-inch rear wheels. It suits riders splitting their time between motocross tracks and off-road or enduro riding, where the surface changes from loose and loamy to hard-packed within a single lap or trail.
The X31 pairs Bridgestone's Castle Block rear tread design with Anti-Degradation Fins. The convex block shape is designed to increase the leading-edge contact area across a range of lean angles for drive and cornering bite, while the fins help the carcass shed heat so performance stays consistent as the ride goes on. Compared with the tyre it replaces, Bridgestone claims gains in traction, braking, cornering grip, bump absorption and block durability, along with a wider usable terrain range.

- Check and set inflation pressure cold before every ride, using the pressure your motorcycle manufacturer recommends for the conditions.
- Fit the tyre so the direction-of-rotation arrow on the sidewall points the correct way for a rear wheel; a reversed fit will hurt drive and braking.
- Use proper tyre levers and rim protectors when mounting, and confirm the bead is seated evenly all the way around before the first ride.
- If you run low pressures for off-road grip, make sure rim locks are fitted and correctly torqued, and check the tyre has not rotated on the rim after hard riding.
- Where the wheel is tube-type, fit a fresh tube and inspect the rim tape whenever you change the tyre.
- Scuff the tyre in over the first few easy kilometres before pushing for grip, as the surface is slippery when new.
- Wash with mild soap and water only; keep petrol, solvents, brake cleaner and tyre-shine products off the tread and sidewalls.
- Store spare tyres flat or upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and chemicals.
- Inspect regularly for cut, torn, chunked or missing knobs and for sidewall damage, and replace the tyre once the blocks are rounded off or damage is found.
- Use off-road and on closed circuits only; this tyre is not intended for public roads.
