The Bridgestone Trail Wing TW42 is a dual-purpose rear tyre in 120/90-17 with a 64S load and speed rating, built for bikes that spend their time split between sealed roads and dirt. Its blocked tread pattern, block layout and compound work together to keep the tyre composed on bitumen while still finding grip once the surface turns loose.

It suits adventure and dual-sport riders, trail bikes and commuters who regularly leave the tar — weekend trail loops, gravel access roads and everyday riding in between. Sold individually as a single rear tyre.

Always confirm the size and rating specified for your motorcycle before ordering.

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician; check the sidewall for tube-type or tubeless marking and fit a new, correctly sized tube where one is required.
  • Check the sidewall for any rotation arrow or fitting direction marking and mount the tyre accordingly.
  • Ride gently for the first period after fitment — build lean angle, braking and throttle gradually so the new tread surface scuffs in evenly before hard use.
  • Set and check inflation pressures to the figures in your motorcycle's owner's manual or the manufacturer's placard, and always check pressures when the tyre is cold.
  • Check pressures regularly and before longer rides; running under-inflated increases heat build-up, wear and the risk of damage.
  • Do not exceed the load and speed rating marked on the sidewall (64S), and adjust pressures for pillion or luggage loads as your bike's manual specifies.
  • Inspect the tread and sidewalls before rides for cuts, cracking, bulges, embedded stones or nails, and uneven wear; replace the tyre if the tread is below the legal minimum depth for your state or if the casing is damaged.
  • Clean with mild soap and water only; keep tyre-shine dressings, solvents, petrol and chain lube off the tread and sidewalls.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and any oils or chemicals.
  • After riding on loose surfaces, expect reduced grip on wet bitumen until the tread has cleared, and re-check pressures if you have lowered them for off-road traction.
