The Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 is the current generation of Bridgestone's Hypersport road tyre, developed as the successor to the S22 within the long-running Battlax premium range. This is the rear fitment in the popular 180/55WR17 size, suiting sportsbikes and naked bikes running a 17-inch rear rim.
It is aimed at riders who spend their weekends on tight mountain roads or the occasional track day, but still ride to and from home on public roads. A revised edge compound is used across the shoulder of the tread so the tyre makes better contact with the road at sharp lean angles, while an updated pattern using Pulse Groove technology supports composure in the wet and on less-than-perfect surfaces.
Sold individually as a single rear tyre. Fitting and balancing are not included.

- Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using appropriate machinery — never attempt to fit a radial tyre by hand.
- Check that the size, load index and speed rating suit your motorcycle before fitting, and confirm the direction-of-rotation arrow on the sidewall faces the correct way.
- Ride conservatively for the initial running-in period after fitting, gradually increasing lean angle until the mould release sheen has worn off the full width of the tread.
- Check and adjust cold inflation pressures regularly against the pressures specified by your motorcycle manufacturer; do not set pressures on a warm tyre.
- Inspect the tread and sidewalls before rides for cuts, embedded objects, bulges or uneven wear, and have anything unusual assessed before riding.
- Replace the tyre before the tread depth reaches the legal minimum for road use in your state, and replace earlier if the carcass or sidewall is damaged.
- Allow extra caution on cold tyres, in the wet and on painted surfaces or tram tracks until the tyre is up to working temperature.
- Wash with mild soap and water only; keep petrol, solvents, brake cleaner and tyre-shine dressings off the tread and sidewalls.
- Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and hydrocarbons.
- Repairs to a damaged tyre should be assessed by a professional — a plug or patch is not always appropriate on a high-speed-rated sports tyre.
