The Bridgestone Exedra Max EA1 is a radial rear tyre in 180/70VR16, developed primarily for Japanese cruisers and the kind of riding they do best — long highway stints, two-up weekends and steady touring kilometres. Its construction, tread pattern and compound are matched to heavier cruiser machines, with the aim of holding a stable line at touring speeds while keeping ride comfort high.

Riders stepping up from a worn OE fitment will notice the emphasis on controllability rather than outright sharpness: predictable steering, settled straight-line manners and even wear over distance. It is a tubeless fitment and is sold as a single rear tyre, so pair it with a matching front for balanced handling.

  • Radial construction for stability at sustained touring speeds
  • Size 180/70VR16 with 77 load index and V speed rating
  • Tubeless (TL) construction for 16-inch tubeless-rated rims
  • Tread pattern and compound optimised for comfort, mileage and wet/dry safety
  • Developed primarily for Japanese cruisers and modern cruiser geometry
  • Rear-fitment tyre, sold individually
  • A common replacement alongside Pirelli Night Dragon, Michelin Commander II and Dunlop D404 in this size
  • 1 x Bridgestone Exedra Max EA1 180/70VR16 77V tubeless radial rear tyre

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician — tubeless fitment requires an undamaged, tubeless-rated rim and a sound valve, and it is good practice to replace the valve at the same time.
  • Check the sidewall for any directional rotation arrow and fit the tyre accordingly.
  • Scrub the new tyre in gently for the first stretch of riding — avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and full lean angles until the release agents have worn off the tread surface.
  • Check inflation pressure when the tyre is cold, at least fortnightly and before any long ride, using the pressures specified on your motorcycle's tyre placard or in its owner's manual — not the maximum pressure moulded into the sidewall.
  • Do not exceed the tyre's 77 load index or V speed rating, and adjust pressures for two-up or loaded touring as your motorcycle manufacturer specifies.
  • Pair the rear with an appropriate matching front tyre; mixing worn or mismatched patterns can affect handling.
  • Inspect regularly for cuts, bulges, uneven wear and embedded objects, and monitor the moulded tread wear indicators — replace the tyre before it reaches the 1.5 mm legal minimum tread depth in Australia.
  • Have any puncture assessed professionally; sidewall damage cannot be repaired, and temporary plugs or sealants are not a substitute for proper inspection and replacement.
  • Clean with mild soapy water and rinse — avoid petrol, solvents and silicone-based tyre shine on the tread, as they can degrade the rubber or reduce grip.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, fuels, oils and electric motors that generate ozone.
