The Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring BT46 is the successor to the long-serving BT45, a bias-ply tyre that spent more than two decades as a default choice for touring and classic sports machines. Bridgestone has carried that proven casing concept forward and brought the compound and construction up to current technology, so the familiar dry handling and mileage remain while wet-weather grip has been lifted.

This is the rear fitment in 150/70H17, load/speed index 69H, tubeless. The rear uses a silica-rich single compound built around Bridgestone's RC Polymer and NanoPro-Tech, which is aimed at holding grip when the tyre is still cold early in a ride and at resisting wear over long distances.

Suited to sport-touring, naked and vintage sports bikes that specify this size. Sold as a single tyre; check your motorcycle's placard or owner's handbook to confirm the correct size and rating before ordering.

  • Rear tyre in 150/70H17, load/speed index 69H
  • Bias-ply construction for sport-touring and vintage sports motorcycles
  • Tubeless (TL) construction
  • Silica-rich EX single compound on the rear for grip and even wear
  • RC Polymer compound technology for improved wear resistance
  • NanoPro-Tech controlled micro-structure to lift wet performance and tyre life
  • Retains the BT45's dry handling and wear resistance with improved wet grip
  • Holds grip in cooler conditions early in a ride, before the tyre is fully warmed
  • Direct replacement for the long-running Battlax BT45
  • BT46 range is approved for UM (tube-type rim) fitment in certain sizes only
  • One Bridgestone Battlax BT46 rear tyre, 150/70H17 69H tubeless

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using the correct bead lubricant and machine settings — never attempt fitting with tyre levers and improvised tools.
  • Observe the rotation direction arrow moulded on the sidewall when mounting, and align any balance mark with the valve as directed by your fitter.
  • This is a tubeless tyre; only fit it to a rim rated for tubeless use, or with a tube where the specific size and rim combination are approved for it. If a tube is used, fit a new tube rather than reusing an old one.
  • Scrub in the new tyre gradually: ride smoothly and avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean angles until the full tread width has been worn in and the release agent is off the surface.
  • Check and adjust inflation pressure when the tyre is cold, using the pressures specified by your motorcycle's manufacturer on the placard or in the owner's handbook — not a pressure taken from the tyre sidewall.
  • Inspect regularly for cuts, bulges, embedded stones or nails, uneven or stepped wear, and sidewall damage; have anything unusual assessed before riding.
  • Monitor tread depth and replace the tyre before it reaches the legal minimum for your state, and replace it if the tread wear indicators are reached.
  • Bridgestone recommends replacing rather than repairing damaged motorcycle tyres; if a repair is considered, have it assessed by a professional and observe any speed restrictions they specify.
  • Clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush, then rinse and dry. Keep tyre shine dressings, solvents, petrol, brake fluid and chain lube off the tread and sidewalls.
  • When storing the bike long term, keep it out of direct sunlight and away from electric motors or welders that generate ozone, and either place it on stands or move it periodically to avoid flat-spotting.
  • Replace front and rear as a matched pair or set where practical, and avoid mixing tyre models or constructions across the two ends.
