The Bridgestone Battlax BT46 is the modern successor to the long-running BT45, a tyre that spent more than two decades as a default choice for touring riders. This is the rear fitment in 130/70H18 (63H), a bias-ply, tubeless casing suited to sport touring machines and classic bikes running an 18-inch rear rim.

Bridgestone's focus with the BT46 rear was compound rather than a wholesale redesign: a silica-rich single compound built with RC Polymer and NanoPro-Tech works to lift wet-weather and cold-start grip without giving up the dry handling and long wear the BT45 was known for. The result is a tyre aimed at riders who cover real distance in mixed Australian conditions and want predictable feel from the first few kilometres of a ride.

Sold individually. Please confirm the size, load and speed rating specified for your motorcycle before ordering.

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre fitter — bias-ply motorcycle tyres require correct bead seating and the right mounting equipment.
  • Check that the size, load index and speed rating suit your motorcycle and that the wheel rim is a suitable width and type for this tyre before fitting.
  • This is a tubeless (TBL) tyre; the BT46 range carries UM approval for tube-type rim fitment in certain sizes only, so confirm approval for this size rather than assuming it.
  • Ride gently for the first stretch of use so the new tread surface can scrub in — avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean angles until the surface has worn evenly.
  • Check cold inflation pressure regularly (before riding, not after) and set it to the pressure specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual or placard, adjusting for load and pillion where the manufacturer advises.
  • Inspect the tread and sidewalls for cuts, embedded objects, bulges or uneven wear each time you check pressures, and have any damage assessed before riding.
  • Replace the tyre before the tread reaches the legal minimum depth in your state or the tread wear indicators are flush with the tread surface, whichever comes first.
  • Avoid getting petrol, oils, solvents or tyre dressings on the tread; clean with water and mild soap only, as chemicals can degrade the rubber compound.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and sharp objects.
  • Do not exceed the load and speed rating marked on the sidewall, and re-check pressures after long periods of storage or a significant change in ambient temperature.
