The Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring BT46 is the successor to the long-running BT45, a bias-ply tyre that served touring and sports riders for more than two decades. Bridgestone has carried that proven concept forward with newer compound and pattern technology, aimed at riders who want dependable everyday street performance rather than track-focused grip.

This listing is for the front tyre in 120/70-17, load and speed rating 58H, tubeless. It suits sport touring machines and vintage sportbikes running bias-ply rubber, and pairs with the matching BT46 rear. The front carcass uses an inverted V-shape tread pattern that manages the forces working on the tyre, helps limit irregular wear and gives clear feedback through the bars.

Compared with the BT45, wet performance has been lifted without giving up the dry handling and wear resistance the older tyre was known for. Selected BT46 sizes also carry UM approval, meaning they may be fitted to tube-type rims.

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using correct mounting equipment — do not attempt roadside or lever-only fitment on a modern cast rim.
  • Scrub in new tyres gently for the first 100–200 km of riding, avoiding hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean angles until the release agent has worn off the tread surface.
  • Set and check cold inflation pressures to the pressures specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual or tyre placard, not to the maximum pressure moulded on the sidewall.
  • Check pressures at least fortnightly and before any long ride, always when the tyre is cold; under-inflation causes irregular wear, poor handling and heat build-up.
  • Inspect the tread and sidewalls regularly for cuts, bulges, embedded objects, uneven or scalloped wear, and replace once the tread reaches the legal minimum depth.
  • Fit this front tyre as part of a matched Battlax BT46 front and rear set where possible, and observe the load and speed rating (58H) marked on the sidewall.
  • The tubeless casing may only be fitted to tube-type rims where the size carries UM approval — confirm with your fitter before mounting on spoked wheels.
  • Clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush; keep petrol, solvents, tyre-shine dressings and silicone sprays off the tread and sidewalls.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and any fuels or chemicals.
  • Re-check wheel balance and pressures after any repair, and have puncture damage assessed by a professional rather than relying on a temporary plug for ongoing use.
