The Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring BT46 is the modern successor to the long-running BT45, a tyre that spent more than two decades as a default choice for sport touring and classic road bikes. This is the rear fitment in 110/80-18 M/C 58H, built with bias-ply construction and specified as tubeless, with UM approval that allows mounting on tube-type rims in certain sizes.

The rear carcass runs a silica-rich single compound using Bridgestone's RC Polymer and NanoPro-Tech, aimed at holding grip when the tyre is still cold early in a ride and improving wet-weather performance over the BT45 without giving up the dry handling and mileage the old tyre was known for.

Suited to touring, commuting and weekend road riding on modern sport-touring machines and vintage or retro sportbikes running an 18-inch rear wheel.

  • Rear tyre in 110/80-18 M/C, load and speed index 58H
  • Bias-ply (diagonal) construction for sport touring and vintage sportbikes
  • Tubeless specification (TBL)
  • UM application approved — may be mounted on tube-type rims in certain sizes
  • Silica-rich EX single compound for grip and wear on rear applications
  • RC Polymer compound technology for improved wear resistance
  • NanoPro-Tech controlled micro-structure for wet performance and tread life
  • Improved wet grip over the superseded BT45 with comparable dry handling
  • Holds grip in low-temperature conditions during the early stage of a ride
  • Direct replacement pattern for the discontinued Battlax BT45
  • 1 x Bridgestone Battlax BT46 rear tyre, 110/80-18

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using proper machinery — never attempt bead seating without the correct equipment.
  • Check the sidewall markings before fitting and observe any rotation direction arrow and the front/rear designation.
  • This size is specified as tubeless, but is UM-approved for tube-type rims in certain sizes; where an inner tube is used, fit a new tube of the correct size rather than reusing an old one.
  • Allow a scrub-in period on a new tyre: ride gently and progressively build lean angle, braking and acceleration until the release agents and the shiny surface finish have worn away.
  • Check cold inflation pressures regularly and set them to the pressures listed on your motorcycle's tyre placard or in the owner's handbook — do not use the maximum pressure moulded into the sidewall as a running pressure.
  • Inspect the tread and sidewalls before rides for cuts, embedded objects, bulges, cracking or uneven wear, and replace the tyre once the tread wear indicators are reached.
  • Do not exceed the load and speed capability marked on the sidewall (58H), and keep within your motorcycle's maximum load rating.
  • Clean with mild soap and water only; keep solvents, fuel, brake cleaner, chain lube and tyre dressings off the tread and sidewalls.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, and away from electric motors or other equipment that generates ozone.
  • Have any puncture assessed by a professional — sidewall damage and larger tread punctures are not repairable, and a repaired tyre may carry reduced speed capability.
