- Torque to the specification stated in your motorcycle's service manual for the specific fastener location — do not estimate.
- Inspect the nut's threads before installation; discard any nut with damaged, crossed, or corroded threads.
- All-metal prevailing torque nuts may be reused a limited number of times provided locking resistance is still felt when run down by hand; replace if the nut spins freely without resistance.
- Do not apply thread-locking compound (e.g. Loctite) in addition to a Fuji-Lock nut unless the manufacturer's service manual explicitly requires it — the combination can make removal very difficult.
- Store unused nuts in a dry environment to prevent surface corrosion; a sealed parts tray or zip-lock bag is suitable for long-term storage.
- When removing a fastener for service, assess whether the nut's locking resistance has been compromised by heat cycles or over-torquing; replace rather than refit if in doubt.
