- Install grips using motorcycle-specific grip glue or secure with safety wire at each end to prevent rotation under load.
- Allow grip glue to cure fully before riding — typically 24 hours; follow adhesive manufacturer instructions.
- Clean grips with mild soap and warm water; rinse and allow to dry before riding.
- Avoid petroleum-based solvents, chain lube, or tyre dressing contact with grips, as these can degrade rubber compounds and cause slippage.
- Inspect grips before each ride for tearing, slipping, or uneven wear and replace if grip integrity is compromised.
- For open end grips, fit bar-end weights or plugs appropriate to your handlebar diameter to prevent handlebar ends from catching in the event of a fall.
- Store spare grips away from direct sunlight and ozone sources (such as electric motors) to prevent premature rubber degradation.
