- Before beginning, drain all old hydraulic fluid from the clutch system to prevent contamination of the new seals.
- Inspect the slave cylinder bore carefully for scoring, pitting or corrosion; a damaged bore will cause premature seal failure even with new components.
- Lubricate all new seals and O-rings with fresh, clean hydraulic fluid of the correct specification — never use petroleum-based grease, which will degrade rubber seals.
- Assemble components in the sequence specified in the relevant Yamaha factory service manual for your model year.
- After reassembly, bleed the hydraulic clutch system thoroughly to remove all air from the circuit before testing clutch operation.
- Check all connections and the slave cylinder body for leaks immediately after initial bleeding and again after the first ride.
- Use only the hydraulic fluid type specified in your model's service manual; mixing fluid types can cause seal swelling or deterioration.
- Store any unused kit components (if the kit contains extras) in their original packaging, in a cool dry location away from sunlight and petroleum-based products, to preserve seal integrity.
