The All Balls Racing 18-6031 is a clutch slave cylinder rebuild kit for selected Honda models, including the CTX1300, VTR1000F, CBR1000F and CBR1100XX. It is intended as a service item for a hydraulic clutch that has become spongy, slow to return or has started weeping fluid at the slave cylinder.

Rebuilding the existing cylinder is usually a far cheaper path than replacing the complete unit, so this kit suits home mechanics and workshops carrying out routine hydraulic clutch servicing or restoring an older bike. Fitting is a workshop-manual job: the clutch hydraulic system must be drained, rebuilt and bled correctly before the motorcycle is ridden.

  • Confirm fitment against your model and year using the Honda service manual or a parts diagram before ordering or fitting.
  • Work clean: hydraulic clutch components are sensitive to grit, so clean the outside of the slave cylinder thoroughly before dismantling it.
  • Inspect the cylinder bore and piston for scoring, pitting or corrosion once stripped — a damaged bore cannot be corrected by new seals and the cylinder should be replaced.
  • Use only fresh brake fluid of the type specified by Honda for the clutch circuit, from a sealed container; do not use petroleum-based greases or solvents on the rubber seals.
  • Assemble and torque all fasteners to the figures given in the Honda service manual for your model.
  • Bleed the clutch hydraulic system fully after fitting, then check lever feel and confirm the clutch fully disengages before riding.
  • Wipe up any spilt fluid immediately — brake fluid damages paint and plastics.
  • Re-check the slave cylinder and hose fittings for weeping or leaks after the first ride and again after a few hundred kilometres.
  • Replace the clutch fluid at the intervals set out in your motorcycle's service schedule to help the new seals last.
