- Inspect swingarm bearings for looseness, roughness, or binding at each scheduled service interval and after any significant impact or deep-water crossing.
- Clean the swingarm pivot area thoroughly before disassembly — remove all old grease, mud, and corrosion from housings and the pivot tube.
- Use proper bearing drivers or a press to seat bearings squarely; never strike bearing races directly with a hammer.
- Pack new bearings with a quality waterproof grease before installation to ensure full lubrication from first use.
- Fit seals with the lip oriented inward to retain grease and exclude water and dirt contamination.
- After assembly, confirm the swingarm moves freely through its full range of travel with no binding or stiffness.
- Torque the swingarm pivot bolt to the specification listed in your Sherco model's service manual — do not estimate.
- After riding in deep mud, sand, or prolonged wet conditions, check seal integrity and re-grease via any grease nipples if present on your model.
