Description

The Michelin Anakee Wild in 90/90-21 54R is the front fitment for 21-inch adventure and dual-sport motorcycles ridden well beyond the bitumen. Its blocky, open tread pattern is built for traction on dirt, gravel and broken surfaces, while the radial casing keeps the tyre settled and predictable during the road sections between trails.

Radial technology was used here for the first time in Michelin's knobbly tyre range, and it shows in the steering precision and ride comfort on sealed roads — areas where aggressive off-road tyres usually give ground. An optimised tread depth and revised compound mix are aimed at longevity and at resisting heat and damage over long, loaded touring kilometres.

Suited to riders on large-capacity adventure bikes who want a genuinely off-road-biased front tyre without surrendering highway manners. Sold individually as a front tyre.

Operations & maintenance

Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using correct bead lubricant and machinery — never attempt to lever a radial tyre on with improvised tools.
Check that the tyre size, load index and speed rating meet or exceed your motorcycle manufacturer's specification before fitting.
As a tubeless tyre, fit only to a rim rated and sealed for tubeless use; if your wheel is spoked and not tubeless-sealed, an inner tube is required and pressures should be set accordingly.
Scrub in the new tyre gently for the first stretch of riding — avoid hard braking, heavy acceleration and deep lean angles until the release agents have worn off the surface.
Check inflation pressure when the tyre is cold, at least fortnightly and before any long or loaded trip, using the pressure specified by your motorcycle manufacturer for your load.
If you drop pressures for sand or soft off-road going, reinflate to the recommended road pressure before returning to sealed roads and highway speeds.
After off-road riding, inspect the tread and sidewalls for cuts, tears, embedded stones and torn knobs, and check for bulges or exposed casing.
Clean with mild soap and water only; keep petroleum products, brake fluid, chain lube and tyre-shine solvents off the tread and sidewalls.
Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and chemicals.
Replace the tyre once the tread wear indicators are reached, if the casing is damaged, or if there is any sidewall deformation — and re-balance the wheel whenever the tyre is refitted.
