The Avon Roadrider MkII (AM26) is the modern development of Avon's long-running classic road tyre, built for riders who want dependable everyday grip without losing the traditional British look. This listing is for the 150/70-17 69V rear fitment.

It suits sport, sport-touring and cruiser machines across a wide span of model years, from period bikes running original-style wheels through to later air-cooled and retro-styled roadsters. A high-silica tread compound and an aggressive shoulder contour give it composure in the wet as well as the dry, while the tidier tread pattern and embossed Union Jack sidewall keep the period aesthetic intact.

Tyre fitting, balancing and inflation should be carried out by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician.

  • 150/70-17 rear fitment with 69V load and speed index
  • High-silica tread compound for wet and dry performance
  • Aggressive shoulder contour for stability when leaned over
  • Interrupted centre groove to reduce tramlining and sharpen handling
  • Symmetrical front and rear tread patterns for a matched look
  • Sidewall formulated for improved resistance to ozone degradation
  • Embossed Union Jack sidewall detailing
  • Tubeless (TL) construction
  • Bias-ply casing for a compliant, comfortable ride
  • Sold individually (single rear tyre)

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using proper tyre-changing equipment; do not attempt roadside or lever-only fitment.
  • As a tubeless (TL) tyre, fit only to a rim rated for tubeless use, and check the rim, valve and sealing surfaces are clean and in good condition before fitting.
  • Ride gently for the first few hundred kilometres and progressively increase lean angle so the new tread surface scrubs in evenly before hard cornering, braking or acceleration.
  • Check and adjust inflation pressure with the tyre cold, using the pressures specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual or by the manufacturer for your load and riding conditions — never deflate a hot tyre to bring pressure down.
  • Re-check pressures at least fortnightly and before any long ride; under-inflation causes overheating, poor handling and rapid shoulder wear.
  • Do not exceed the tyre's load and speed rating (69V) and do not overload the motorcycle.
  • Inspect the tread and sidewalls regularly for cuts, bulges, embedded objects, cracking or uneven wear, and monitor the tread wear indicators — replace the tyre before it reaches the legal minimum tread depth.
  • Use the rear fitment on the rear wheel only and observe any rotation direction markings moulded into the sidewall.
  • Clean with mild soapy water and rinse; keep petrol, solvents, brake fluid, chain lube and silicone tyre dressings off the tread and sidewalls, as they can degrade the rubber and reduce grip.
  • When storing the bike, keep it out of direct sunlight and away from electric motors or welders (ozone sources), and support the machine on stands or move it periodically to avoid flat-spotting.
  • After any impact with a kerb or pothole, or after a puncture, have the tyre inspected internally by a professional — plug repairs should only be carried out to the tyre manufacturer's and repairer's guidelines, and never on a tyre run flat.
