Description

The Michelin Road Classic is a modern tyre built for classic and retro-styled motorcycles. It pairs traditional looks with current compound and casing technology, so riders of period machines don't have to trade away wet-weather grip or stability to keep the right appearance.

This listing is for the rear size 130/90B-17 (68V) in tubeless construction. It suits classic roadsters and street cruisers, and has received technical approval from Triumph for a number of their most recognisable models, including the Bonneville and Street Twin.

Compared with the previous generation, the Road Classic focuses on wet grip and cornering composure — the areas that matter most for everyday road riding on an older-style chassis.

Operations & maintenance

Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using correct bead lubricant and equipment — tubeless fitment requires an undamaged, airtight rim and a serviceable valve.
Confirm the size, load and speed rating suit your motorcycle by checking the owner's manual or the manufacturer's tyre placard before fitting.
Fit a new valve (or rubber valve stem) whenever the tyre is replaced, and check the direction-of-rotation marking on the sidewall during fitment.
Ride conservatively for the initial run-in period so the tread surface scrubs in evenly; grip is reduced until the release agents and moulding sheen have worn off, particularly at full lean.
Check cold inflation pressure at least weekly and before long rides, using the pressures specified by your motorcycle manufacturer — under-inflation causes overheating, poor handling and rapid wear.
Inspect the tread and sidewalls regularly for cuts, embedded objects, bulges, cracking or uneven wear, and have any damage assessed before riding.
Replace the tyre before the tread reaches the legal minimum depth in your state, and be aware that wet grip falls away well before that point.
Clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush; avoid petrol, solvents, silicone tyre shines or dressings, which can contaminate the tread and reduce grip.
Do not exceed the load and speed capability marked on the sidewall, and avoid repairs to a damaged tyre unless a professional confirms the damage is repairable.
If the motorcycle is stored for an extended period, keep it out of direct sunlight and away from electric motors or ozone sources, and move or support the bike so the tyre is not left flat-spotted under load.
