The SSB VTX5L-BS is a 12-volt AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) powersport battery from SSB's V-Spec High Performance range, built as a direct replacement for the common YTX5L-BS and YTZ7-S battery sizes used across small-capacity motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and lightweight sportsbikes.

Its sealed AGM construction holds the electrolyte in glass mat separators rather than as free liquid, so there is nothing to top up and the battery can handle the vibration and movement of a bike far better than a conventional flooded unit. With 195 CCA on tap from a 6Ah case measuring just 113 x 70 x 105 mm, it drops into the standard battery tray without modification.

Before fitting, compare the battery against the unit you are replacing — case size, terminal positions and polarity must match your bike's tray and cable reach.
When removing the old battery, disconnect the negative lead first, then the positive; on reinstallation connect the positive first and the negative last.
Keep terminals clean and free of corrosion, and tighten terminal bolts firmly by hand tools only — over-torquing can damage the terminal posts.
Charge only with a charger that has an AGM or sealed lead-acid mode. Do not use a high-current automotive boost or fast-charge setting, which can overheat and damage a sealed AGM battery.
This is a sealed, maintenance-free battery — do not attempt to prise off the sealing strip or add water or electrolyte.
If the bike is stored or ridden infrequently, keep the battery on a compatible trickle or maintenance charger. Leaving a lead-acid battery flat for extended periods causes sulfation and permanent capacity loss.
Store and transport the battery upright, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Wipe the casing with a damp cloth to keep it clean; avoid solvents and keep dirt clear of the terminals.
If the battery repeatedly goes flat, have the bike's charging system and for parasitic drain checked — a faulty regulator/rectifier will destroy a new battery.
At end of life, return the battery to a lead-acid battery recycling point; do not place it in household waste.
